Beth Portman

Beth's (Portable) Picnic Show is a self contained family concert suitable for a wide variety of spaces and performance occasions. Created during the pandemic for front lawns, this concert harkens back to simpler times capturing the carefree joy of summer. In addition to her voice and ukulele, Beth uses her looper station (neatly stored in a picnic basket) to create and record beats using items such as plastic food containers, wooden spoons and egg shakers. These recorded layers add harmony and rhythm to her live performance of originals and cover songs. 

Beth has performed this presentation for festivals, community league events, afternoon teas, volunteer thank you picnics, house patio and lawn concerts. In 2023, Beth's Picnic Show was included in the St. Albert International Children's Festival, the Green Shack multiple show program and part of the EPL Summer Programming.  Beth performed over 34 shows bringing smiles to young and young at heart.

Coming in 2025 is Beth's new enhanced version of her picnic show called Beth's BIG Picnic Show designed for theatre stages with multimedia projection. Using colourful backgrounds and animated elements, Beth transports her audience to her favourite picnic spot where music and visuals come alive. 

Show length: 1 hour concert or two 40 minute sets.
